you probably almost didn't recognize parker on account of his disguise, right?  but it really is p-ray, in true p-ray goofball style.

love this kid.

ps: he did this completely on his own, totally voluntarily.  i was just lucky enough to have my camera already in hand.  the stars aligned for this one.

baby smiles are kinda the best thing ever.  am i right or am i right?

wordless{ish} wednesday: bro faces.

while i love seeing how elliot is his own little person, i sometimes feel like i'm looking in a mirror of parker's baby face.  my take on it?  same nose, same eyes... maybe same lips.  totally different face shape.  also?  slightly better camera with elliot.  ha!

you be the judge.  who doesn't love a good comparison?

wordless{ish} wednesday: at the ocean.

we've taken parker to beaches in hawaii & beaches in san diego & both times he wanted nothing to do with the sand, the ocean or any of it.  he was unimpressed & not having it.  this last weekend?  he was ALL about the beach at the washington coast.

he's my true little pacific northwest baby.

and don't expect anything too exciting to happen in this video... it's just p-ray walking around being p-ray.  in other words, it's totally worth watching.

wordless{ish} wednesday: ice cream eater

vacay was good.  i crossed all kinds of things off my bucket list & p-ray got to bond with his cousins.  he definitely got along best with kimmy... every time she'd walk in a room he'd yell, "it's kimmy!" super cute.

i think she kinda liked him too.  at least enough to share her ice cream with him which is a pretty big deal.

wordless{ish} wednesday: swinging.

i took over a hundred pictures of p-ray actually really enjoying the swings for the first time in his life & i wish i had time to edit & post them all.  but for now... here's my favorite.

ok, maybe it's tied for top ten favorites.  i'll probably post more.  love him.

wordless{ish} wednesday: parker + presents.

last year we went all out for p-ray's birthday.  a bbq, friends, family, decorations... all of it!  it was a blast & i love that we did it.  this year we went for a much more tone-downed approach... we did cupcakes, presents {yes, that's christmas wrap} & just the three of us.  our san diego vacay was a pretty big celebration of him turning two {our last big trip while he's free to fly!} and i don't think his big day was forgotten by any means, i just think the next huge birthday party will be when he's old enough to pick the theme & invite his own friends... so, maybe next year?  haha.

i just can't believe the day has come & gone & i am the mom of a two year old.

it's exhausting being two.

wordless{ish} wednesday: rainy day play.

i don't know if you know this but in seattle?  it rains a lot.  

and if on one of these rainy days your toddler drags out his boots, puts them on all by himself & then asks to go outside you don't waste your breath saying "maybe if it stops raining, ok?"  because you'd be inside all day everyday.  nope.  instead you throw a couple more layers on him, zip up his raincoat & send him on his merry way.  

and then you watch him have a really, really good wet time.  that's how we do.

wordless{ish} wednesday: little face.

we got to see this little face yesterday.  and not only did we get to see this cute little face, we got to see the cute little arms & legs & fingers that go along with it.  and they were wriggly & squirmy & totally moving all around, every which direction.

we got to see the heart & its four chambers working together to provide blood to this little baby's body.  and there were hard bones & functioning organs & this mama could not be happier.

and yes, we now know whether we need to buy into the world of all that is pink or if i am going to be officially way outnumbered in this household.  this little baby wasn't shy & we are beyond excited!

i am so excited to tell you... & i'm not holding out to be mean, i promise!  sam's entire family is getting together this weekend & we are waiting to tell them all in person so i can't spill the beans just yet.

so i'm in the office working on some photos when i overhear sam say, "parker.  let's go make something."  next thing i know pots & pans are clanging & cupboards are opening & closing.  i knew i was missing a photo-op so i grabbed my camera & find this:

i realize this story would end much better with a picture of parker nomming down on the end result but honestly once the cookies were done, none of us was holding a camera.  our hands were too full of cookies.

i'm sure you understand.
