our week by iPhone - week 82

so this week felt a little more normal.  it felt routine, it felt laid back & it wasn't quite so hectic.  maybe because it didn't end with me sharing a hotel room with five other girls?  that's definitely one way to spice up your life.

this is what our week looked like through the eyes of my iCamera.

monday. started with stroller strides where my plank is feeing a little middle-heavy these days.  then it was off to the doctor's for a blood draw {screw you, thyroid!} where p-ray made good company in the waiting room.  as happy as he was there with me, i think he was even happier to have a costco-shopping date afterwards with his girlfriend, cami.

monday evening consisted of parker & i entertaining ourselves in fred meyer & playing in parking-lot puddles while sam met with potential car-buyers across the parking lot.  it paid off!  his car sold.  sorry to all of you who were holding out for a chance at his 1998 mazda with 200,000 miles, it's now off the market.

tuesday.  another routine trip to the doctor's office... this time to measure muh belly & hear baby brother's heartbeat.  parker's getting pretty comfortable with trips to the OB's these days.  after the doctor it was haircut time!  i didn't get any pictures of the cutting process, which involved him screaming & fighting against the clippers violently because i was trying to distract him with videos on my phone... it only partially worked.  but in the end he was left with a pretty snazzy new 'do.

tuesday afternoon was pretty relaxed.  naptime-mombreak & post-bath cuddles with dad.  and milk & cookies.

wednesday.  there's nothing wrong with starting your work day in your pj's in your living room, amiright?  love my work-from-home-day.  when there was a momentary sunbreak it was time for a quick walk outside to gaze at my ever-shrinking feet & the cute wildflowers that line the sidewalk.  they tease me, as if one day we'll have a summer here.

parker & sam were out & about wednesday evening so i took a solo trip to the grocery store followed by an aimless drive in the country while blaring good music & eating a chocolate dipped ice cream cone.  just what the doctor ordered for this momentarily-frazzled mama.  {reason for temporary frazzled-ness explained in this post}

it's hard to imagine life isn't perfect when you get to peek in at this little sleeping face each night though, ya know?

thursday.  dropping parker off at his girlfriend's in the morning before work always involves some light reading.  and work always involves one picture of me wearing real clothes, because that is picture worthy.  also, the little boy in the belly was doing some SERIOUS rocking & rolling that day & i loved it.

also?  lots of rain.  ew.

friday.  we slept in a little & since we saw rain outside the window, decided to have a lazy morning.  eventually we pulled on our rain boots & headed out to our favorite place in the whole world, where we hadn't been for a couple weeks:  target.  ok, parker's only pretending to like it there as much as me.

then it was back home for naps & watching the torrential downpour outside {really, june?} until we headed downtown to hit up one of our favorite local shops to pick up a couple things for my shower hostesses tomorrow.  and then the night ended with a father-son wrestle match... per the uge.

it's the freakin' weekend!  go crazy.

thirty-one weeks. bumpdate!

so i was kinda starting to freak out this last week.

i mean, seriously?  there are only nine weeks left.  nine single-digit weeks.  we have such a great routine right now, i get a generous break everyday while parker naps, he can feed himself & put on {and put away!} his shoes, and he can pretty much always communicate what is making him mad when there is a problem.  we're at a really good place & lately it's been a little hard to swallow how much all of that is gonna change in just two short months.  i was in a funk & honestly, feeling a little sorry for myself about how hard life is gonna be for a while.

yesterday i had a reality check.  i have no room to feel anything but completely blessed & grateful.

i was standing at an atm next to a bulletin board filled with want ads & for sale posts.  one post was a lady giving out her number asking for work around your house... cleaning, organizing, whatever, she just needed extra money to make ends meet.  another post caught my eye... a guy who was selling his car so he could buy his wife a special wheelchair since she had MS and her health was deteriorating.

i withdrew money from the atm & walked back to my car & drove home to my warm house filled with my amazing husband & happy little boy.  the whole way there i felt kicks from the healthy baby inside my belly & felt ashamed for feeling sorry for myself.  how could i possibly have room to complain when there are people all around me with real problems & legitimate reasons to feel sorry for themselves?  i felt like a jerk.

so now?  i am trying to look ahead with nothing but gratitude & excitement.  i mean, i'm still nervous to go through labor again {OUCH} but i am ecstatic to get this little boy here & start our lives as a little family of four.  yes, it's gonna be sleepless nights & days without a break all over again but it's gonna be so SO worth it.

on another note, MY BABY SHOWER IS TOMORROW!!  can i just say i have the best best-friends ever?  my girlfriends have put so much work into this shower & have snuck around making all sorts of plans & i am so beyond excited to see what they've been up to.  can't wait to share pictures!

and as for baby boy?  he is moving like crazy.  i swear he's moving more often than not & my belly is rolling all around from his ninja kicks & break dancing maneuvers 24/7.  babycenter.com says this is the peak of baby boy's movement in the belly since room gets tighter here on out, so i'm gonna enjoy this while it lasts.

i love his little activities so much!  just can't wait to see them in person.

random randoms, with bullet points.

•   can we all just stop for a moment & laugh at the goofball pictured above?  this kid kills me.  this was a quick snapshot in between the ongoing game of stack-up-all-the-pillows-and-slide-headfirst-off-the-couch-onto-said-pillows.  it's one of his favorite games lately.  and this is who i get to hang out with all day... how'd i get so lucky?

•   have i ever mentioned i have an obsession with crime show dramas?  i know i'm not alone on this.  but if it's after 10:00 pm & the rest of my family is sleeping, nothing other than CSI or Law & Order will do.  what is it about those shows?

•   pretty sure i've mentioned that sam is tidier than me around the house.  i pick up more, but the truth of the matter is i make more of the messes.  know what else he does more of?  refilling the toilet paper dispenser roll thingy.  i hate messing with those dumb things.  oh & he dusts more.  and vacuums.  ok, so i pick up more, he cleans more.  we're compatible.

•   i seriously have a love affair with my new car.  if it was up to me, everyone in the world would drive a subaru outback.  even if that meant we all had to wear birkenstocks, tevas, hiking boots & cargo shorts, i would do it.

•   i have serious mom guilt about not taking parker's 23 & 24 month pictures.  i did awesome from 1-22 months & then had a big fat fail right there at the end.  i've spent lots of time thinking about how i'm gonna make it up but everyday i put it off & don't do anything is another day parker gets older & looks less like a 23 or 24 month old.  so... whattyagonna do?

•   there have been about ten random thoughts pop in my head that are pregnancy related... i'm opting to not talk about them right now & save them for the weekly update post, but who are we kidding?  pregnancy & baby related thoughts consume me.

•   one pregnancy related note:  i took a solo-grocery shopping trip to costco tonight wearing yoga pants & a big oversized hoodie.  the check-out dude told me there was no way i could be due in two months because i was "barely showing."  so basically, what i took away from that was big huge heavy hoodies & yoga pants are flattering.  if you see me a week before my due date in august wearing a ginormous hoodie & sweats, you know why.  it looks good.

•   i never put together a real "30 by 30" list.  and now there are only three months til my 30th birthday.  i'm failing all over the place.  who was i kidding?  i'm doing good to get out of bed & have my teeth brushed by noon... did i really think i could fit in 30 goals before i get out of my 20's?  silly me.

•   and?  only three months til i turn 30.  whoa.

•   annnnnd?  i'll have a two year old PLUS a one month old on my 30th birthday.  who am i?

and with that i need to go to sleep.  because obviously i need to get my rest while i can.  between the baby on the way & aging into a new decade, i have my work cut out for me.

thirty weeks. bumpdate!

and then we were in the thirties with only ten weeks left... how can time fly by & crawl all at once?  i can't believe this baby will be here in just over two months.  so basically now is the time to be making to-do lists & start checking things off.  this kid will be here before we know it!

here's my pre-baby & summer-time bucket list:

i'll cross things off the list as they happen & will maybe even add a couple more as i think of them.  but it looks like we have lots to do in the next two months, no?  i won't beat myself up if we don't get to everything, lots of those are all-day saturday things & i'm sure a few of our saturdays will need to be spent catching up around the house, so it may not even be possible.  but i mostly want to just cherish these last few weeks with parker as our one & only before the family gets a new member.

T minus ten weeks & our lives will never be the same!

steppin' out & blogger partyin' it up.

two posts in one day?  new record.

i wanted to hurry it up & get this out there before i passed out of exhaustion.  actually, that's probably exactly what i'll do as soon as i hit "publish."  friday night was a blast.  i was really on the fence about going to the pnw blogger's meet up right up to the last minute... until mandy & jill told me they were coming to get me regardless of what i decided.  sometimes it's just easier to stay at home & get a good night's sleep, ya know?

in the end i'm super excited i made it.  i got to see some of the faces i know & love from the bloggy world, some for the first time & some for the 20th time.  so many of these girls have become some of my closest friends & good times are ALWAYS had when we get together.

first things first?  as soon as we rolled into portland & got out of the car, steppin' out pictures were taken.

{linking up with my girl mandy, over at harper's happenings.
don't worry, she appears in this post later.}

apparently i'm still shoving this 30 weeks-prego-body into a whole slew of non-maternity american eagle stuff.  this outfit was all about comfort... jeans, t-shirt & flats.  and comfortable i was.

the party was bumpin.  and by that i mean there were like 10 of us pregnant girls among the fifty bloggers at the party.  that's a crazy ratio, yo.  we hung out & ate some food & mingled & lots of laughs & hugs & snorts were had.  actually, that was mostly just me snort-sniffing mandy's face {bottom left}... i don't know either.

we somehow managed to fit six of us into one hotel room.  two double beds & a queen air mattress & four out of six of us were impregnated.  that's gotta be some kinda record, right?

first thing in the morning it was all about finding a legit breakfast... and mother's bistro in downtown portland did NOT disappoint.

{pictured bottom right:  jill, chelsey, me, melissa, mandy & emily.  also, lauren, pictured top left, was there too!}

mmmm, breakfast food.

and that was our adventure.  i'm so happy to have met so many amazing girls through this little internet world of blogging.  i have spent countless hours im-ing, texting, & hanging out with the ladies sam calls my "internet friends."  there is never a lack of things to talk about as we all have a million things to say about our kiddos, our husbands & our lives away from those things.  no one judges when you carry on your conversation while facebook-status-updating, instagramming, or tweeting & in fact, that's usually what we're all doing when we're together.  because we're bloggers.

{all photos in the post are courtesy of mandy... thanks for letting me be lazy with the camera for once & allowing me to steal all yours!}

our week by iPhone - week 81

oh hey there little blog!  it's been a few days & i've missed you.  this week has gone by in a blur & yet, when i look back on monday it feels like it was a hundred years ago.  i'm hoping next week slows down a bit, but who am i kidding?  fat chance.

here's what it all looked like in iPics!

monday started a little rough.  parker fell & hit his head on the sidewalk & gave us a pretty good scare.  he wasn't quite himself for a while but it turned out it wasn't anything a little extra snuggles couldn't cure.

brighter note?  it was new car day!  there's my cute little outback.  still loooove her.  we wrapped the holiday up with dinner out at our favorite teriyaki spot & some bubble fun.

tuesday.  i was supposed to go to an OB check up but had the wrong appointment time in my head & missed it... ooops.  blame it on pregnancy brain.

we met up with friends at the library instead & took home some sweet books.  parker watched dump trucks out the front window back at home while i made lunch & then we went out to the grocery store after naps.  he loves helping me push the cart but is easily distracted by the strategically placed toys on the bottom shelf.  thanks a lot for that, fred meyer.

wednesday.  hung out at home most the day working, but finally got out to enjoy some fresh air.  someday i just might miss all the gorgeous back roads around my house.  wednesday night i worked on getting some client discs ready & parker worked his chiropractic skills on sam's back.

thursday.  the highlight of p-ray's day was definitely seeing a train on the way to his sitter's place while the highlight of my day was having an outside "office" for the day.  hooray for being a part-time ecologist & going on site visits!  back at home it was post-bath nakey time & giggley pre-bed self portraits.  do you see that face??

friday.  got to hang out with this adorable little man first thing in the morning at a newborn shoot & then got picked up by these cute girls {jill! mandy!} for a night out in portland to hit up the PNW blogger meet up!  got to see some of my favorite ladies again & meet some for the first time & then crashed in a hotel room with five other girls.  it kinda felt like college all over again & i kinda loved it.

although sleeping 7.5 months pregnant on an air mattress isn't completely ideal, it was totally worth it.  {pictured:  jill, mandy, nanette, chelsey, mandey, lauren... check them out!}

saturday.  did i mention 4 of the 6 of us in our hotel room are pregnant?  so obviously the first thing on our minds was getting up & getting food in our bellies.  we hit up an amazing bistro downtown portland for a whole lotta picture-taking, laughing & amazing food.  then it was back on the road to home where i was happily reunited with my two favorite guys.  the reunion was good but as soon as parker was down for his nap i crashed on the couch for a pretty sweet three hour nap.  and that was glorious.

while i slept sam fixed up his old car {he's been driving this car since before i met him... a good 8 years!  all through college & our marriage.  200,000 miles later, it was high time to replace it.} so we could put it on craigslist.  anyone interested??  we'll give you a great deal!

then it was out for groceries {more cart pushing} & mexican food where parker practiced fake smiles.  goofball.

whew!  what a week.
