getting us outside // puddles edition.

so instead of lounging around all day watching episodes of the tonight show (seriously though, jimmy fallon is killing it, right??  loving that show) and playing on social media (elliot in the first pic below) i decided to pack these little boys up & get us out into the one hour of sunshine we actually had today.

ok, mostly i was just lazy & didn't get up at the crack of dawn to get my run in so the only way to do it was with kiddos in the stroller.  this could also read: why i'll always be getting up at the crack of dawn to get my run in from now on.  pushing an extra 70 pounds of boys + stroller is no joke!

this was also a lesson for me to just put one foot in front of the other & get ourselves OUT OF THE HOUSE.  oh man it woulda been so much easier to stay home all day, to skip yet another run & just put on a movie & call it a day.  instead i didn't let myself think about it & just decided this is happening, i'm running with these guys in a stroller if it kills me & so what if our late start to the day cuts into lunch & naps.  it'll be worth it.

and it was.  fresh air, fun pictures, happy little boys, long naps & a mom who actually put those workout clothes she lives in day in & day out to use.  everybody wins.

  1. I LOVE these pics! That GIF is adorable. I don't have Photoshop, just elements. I wish I knew how to make one. I know what you mean, I just ran with both boys in the double on an extremely windy day and it was seriously no joke. I need to get better at getting out more with these boys. I feel all we do to get out is just go to the park. I'm sure they love it, but it gets monotonous after awhile.

    1. yes we have a park near our house that I am soooo sick of. it's definitely fun to mix it up! And yeah, I used PS to make the gif... I just googled for a tutorial & after trying out three different ones, I finally found one that made sense! maybe I should do my own tutorial :)

  2. These are so wonderful... and I NEED to be a little more willing to let Jackson get down and get dirty. Really play in the puddles. That's where the memories are made, right? Love this. I hope you had a great run too!

  3. Great pics - I love how you just let them get down on the ground and play and get dirty. I'm sure they just love it!

  4. OMG the gif is adorable! As always, I love your pics. I seriously need to take on your mindset of just getting out of the house. I'm terrible about going outside. I absolutely hate going outside unless it's to go to the track & get my run on. Other than that, I just feel ughhh the whole time. I suck. lol.

Also, I'm wondering, what are you going to do when the boys are too big to use a stroller? Teach them to ride bikes & hope they keep up?

    1. thank you!! yeah, the next move is to get Parker on a bike & then run with just Elliot in the single stroller. Although, I'm thinking when Parker is that big I'll be running w/ Elliot while Parker is at preschool... we'll see. and yes, just get out & don't even think about it! just do it ;)

  6. We call our double stroller the bus and it really does change the whole run! I call it my resistance training day whenever I have to push it. :)

  7. Gosh! Love the gif - the spontaneous splashing & grungyness must not have been planned or E would have had his red boots on...am I right?

Good on you for getting out!! So important to breath fresh air and get some vitamin D!

  8. Love these! That gif is adorable! If you don't mind my asking, how did you put it together - how did you decide which pictures to take and then what program do you use to compile them?

    1. thank you! I used PhotoShop to put it together & just shot a succession of pictures of them running knowing that they'd look cool as a set. the idea of doing a gif came later while I was editing, actually. Now I want to do more of these with the idea in mind ahead of time :)
