an update for the sake of updating.

let's not even talk about how long it's been since i've blogged & how sad & out of date this little internet space of mine has become, ok? instead, let's pretend like we're the kind of friends that can go four months without talking & just pick right up where we left off.  here we go... but where to start??

work has been keeping me really busy.  i do have a bit of a break through the months of february & march but don't get me wrong, there are plenty of things i should be doing right now... taxes come to mind, invoicing, blogging on the biz blog, etc... so i'm not sure it's really much of a break but more of a time to do some business maintenance that seems to suffer during the busy season.  it's nice, actually!  i've done a lot of work on my website, i've shot a lot of personal photos & refined my processing a bit & worked on my 2014 pricing structure.  wow, i'm boring myself right now... let's talk about something besides work.

parker & elliot are getting big, it's crazy.  parker's almost FOUR you guys.  two more  months... it's nuts.  he's at such an awesome stage... he says the most off the wall creative/witty things & is generally just super fun to be around.  elliot is pretty fun too.  that kid might have more personality in his pinky than i have in my whole bod.  he is stubborn, determined, sweet, cuddly, temperamental & super smart.  it's a fun stage while being a difficult stage all at once.  it's fun to have two kids that can go without the stroller, who love to walk through a park or a store, who can sit & feed themselves at a restaurant & generally just be fun little people.  it gets hard when i find myself outnumbered in trying to get out the door & i'm battling two littles who are complaining/running away from my threatening advances to get them dressed & causing me twice the grief as opposed to just battling a toddler & a baby who is just along for the ride.  it's definitely a new & interesting stage.

in other news, i'm in my first of fifteen weeks of training for my second half marathon.  i'm super excited because along with this, i'm completely committed to doing a whole self-health makeover.  i'm finally ready (since elliot was born!) to commit to clean eating & ditch a lot of the bad sugary habits i've made in the last two years.  junk food is good but feeling crappy about yourself just isn't worth it.  the last couple months i've struggled to eat well & work out regularly & as a result, just haven't felt like myself.  i'm trying to simplify my life as much as possible and make room for me again.  one of the things that has had to go was being a stroller strides instructor.  it's a small thing but it was one thing that could go in the process of trying to free up space in my week.  i've joined a gym & am so excited to take control of my fitness again.

along with this, i'm back on the emeals.com meal plan train.  i'm currently subscribed to the low-calorie meal plan for two & am super happy with it.  they're good old fashioned meat & potatoes type meals that my kids & husband are loving and the stress of not having to create meals out of thin air is so, so helpful.  i'm LOVING it & sam is loving coming home to dinner on the table each (well, around every other) night.  baby steps.

and in other BIG news, we are moving!  sam has been commuting an hour each way to work for the last two years & we're over it.  we're looking in the portland area & he will be transferring offices with the same company.  at most, he'll be fifteen minutes from his office since we're looking to buy a house in the downtown area.  house hunting is time consuming! and stressful & emotional & all this other stuff.  we've found a couple that we really liked for one reason or another they just weren't the one.  so we sit & wait for the right house to come up & when it does? we'll pounce.  it's exciting & nerve wracking all at once.  but mostly exciting :)

welp, that's about it friends!  just a little info dump to put out what is going on in this neck of the woods for history's sake.  why not, right?  who says there are rules to blogging & that you can't blog every four months or so, huh??

if a once every four month update just doesn't seem like enough to you, feel free to follow me on instagram, check out my "picture of the day" series on flickr or wait patiently for the occasional tweet.  because i'm in all those places every now & then.

until next time!

  1. yay an update. I am so long overdue on some type of update it's not even funny. I post my 52 weeks pictures and monthly baby updates and I am done. it's sad but we just don't have time for it. I am excited to see where you move and maybe new posts about all the cool things in portland? I am deciding between there and Seattle for our future move (in 2/3 years..hahaha) and it would be cool to see what your family likes.

    1. yay, thanks for reading! it's nice to know there are still people out there :) yes, we were deciding between moving downtown Seattle or downtown Portland because Sam's work has offices in both city... we chose Portland simply because of the cost of living! Seattle houses are SO crazy expensive & we are wanting to buy IN the city so Portland won in the end. We love it there & are super excited to explore all the fun new places. I plan on at the very least posting/tweeting/instagramming updates :)

  6. LOVE the new look! You inspire me :) I might have to jump on the ban wagon and get myself blogging again too. I miss it so much! It just seems to be at the end of my to-do list all the time and I think its been a few months since I even typed a word. Can I cry now about you moving or wait until the moment where I am standing in the middle of the street watching your uhaul drive off into the distance while you shed a tear watching me fade away through the side mirror? creapy?? no, just BFF sadness!
