wordless{ish} wednesday: whiney mc-whinester.

we've been seein' a lot of this scrunchy little face lately, accompanied with a fake little whine.  apparently parker has turned one & has decided to go straight into the terrible twos.  anyone else go through this?  my sweet little baby has turned into quite the complainer.  maybe it's teething.  but small tasks often turn into little battles.  and?  he even threw his first in-store tantrum at : : gasp : : target.  i guess this is part of my little baby turning into a little boy, yeah?

he's lucky he's so darn cute throughout all of it.  and the fact that he has learned how to give big wet kisses helps a bit too.

  1. forget target. i haven't brought wyatt with me in probably 2 months. have you noticed? he doesn't last more than 10 minutes. then i'm rushing around looking at everything as fast as i can. sucks.

    it gets worse.

  2. yah, we've had those too now...fortunately ours have been short lived. Ignoring it seems to work for us...or I stare it out of him. :) Good luck!

  3. All I've got is that my nephew used to be such a sweet kid - he hit the same age and was just mean...whiny and then angry. Now he's two and it's a little better.

  4. For my kiddos it was more the threes than the twos, but yeah, same thing. Whining is not fun.

  5. ah the public temper tantrum throwing... lets just say when Braeden and I walk into Target the ladies pull out their ear plugs ;)

    welcome to toddler hood.

  6. Oh yes. Pie skipped right into the terrible twos. Though she is working about 3, maybe 4, molars right now so I'm trying to give her a little extra slack.

And I'm just going to pretend I didn't read the part about a meltdown at Target...blasphemy!

  7. Oh boy. Here comes the toddler phase. Noah went through that whiney-fit throwing stage around that age, and then it passed after a few weeks. Hopefully you won't have to deal with it for very long! He's a cutie, though. So it's somewhat worth it.

  8. We totally went through this during that first month after Jessi turned 1. It was complete torture. I think a lot of it was molars and she got an ear infection. But every day she learns what "no" means, and moves on to something else. We are big fans of throwing fits in Target though :) Good luck mama...we'll all survive this together!

  9. yep-- I found that 13-16 months were kind of brutal and now we're getting a little better. Niall has definitely learned that he doesn't want to take time-outs so he *usually* tries to work it out if I give him the T-O warning ;) But yea, I went through a couple months there when I couldn't even change his diaper because he would just kick the beejeezus out of me and scream. Argggg.

  10. I remember the first fit my daughter had and it was in the Target parking lot too just before her first birthday. For us, we just ignored her if we knew she was throwing a fit. I will never forget the first time I ignored my babe. She threw herself on the floor with her fake cry, I walked away and she looked up like where'd she go? Then she got up and was happy as a clam. lol Hang in there, it'll be over before you know it. :)

  11. I am right there with ya. Christian will throw a tantrum now when I take anything he has a grip on away from him. it's usually something pointy, the remote control, or if he's had enough veggie puffs.

  12. At least he has a cute face, even when scrunched up in frustration. Good luck!

  13. Hannah has been doing the same thing! Just last night I was talking to Wytmer about how she cries a lot more lately. She's always been a bit of a drama queen, but it's getting pretty intense. I think it has something to do with her wanting to be more independent and getting frustrated with her limits.

Hang in there mama! Maybe we are just getting it over with early so that our kiddos will be angels when they are two (maybe?...hopefully?).

  17. Ever since my Parker turned 1 in December he has become whiny too. Having a 3.5 year old also, it gets worse. :) They are learning how to vocalize the things they want, get frustrated, teething plays a factor and testing us!

  18. We've had those moments too. We've found that if we give him crackers while walking around the grocery store then he doesn't throw any fits. The cracker seems to keep him occupied long enough for us to do what we need to do. Now that I said that it probably won't work anymore, lol. That's usually how it goes.

  19. Oh yeah...Ellie started the terrible twos around 12 months ;) I think they're just too smart for their own good!! Too much knowledge, and not enough ways to communicate it. That's what I say anyways :) I would just work through it, though. I still take Ellie with me everywhere.....grocery shopping, target, whatever. Good luck!
