twenty-three weeks. bump.

first off, nothing that exciting happens at twenty three weeks except one thing.  it's one week closer to VIABILITY!  if a girl was to go into labor after twenty-four weeks, doctors would do everything they could to help that baby live since at that time, a baby ideally possesses everything it needs to live outside the womb.  but let's not pretend like that's gonna happen.  it's just exciting that i'm one week closer to having a baby that can survive on its own!  maybe more on this next week.

another week has gone by & pregnancy continues to be real.  my belly is getting bigger & my body is getting sorer.  my back hurts, i have sciatic & pelvic pain & i always feel stiff when getting up from sitting.  but i'm still running at stroller strides & able to do most the exercises.

also, despite the stupid anterior placenta that continues to prohibit sam from feeling baby's kicks {he has tried to feel him a few times but can't.  boo.}, i'm feeling lots of movement from the inside.  and oh my freaking goodness, i love it.  feeling baby movement is definitely the best part of being pregnant... it's like the more sore & achy you get the more baby kicks & jabs you get to feel.  so it all turns out to be ok in the end.  glad someone planned it that way.

and lastly?  the reality of having two real soon is starting to set in.  i get really emotional when i think about what that means & i sorta launched into a novel about it in this post that eventually got copied & pasted into a post of its own for next week.  as tears were streaming down my face while writing about not having everyday one-on-one parker time i realized "wow, this is kinda a topic all its own."  so that's coming.

but thank goodness it's friday.  we'll be spending our weekend getting ready for next week's vacay & counting down the hours til we leave for sunny san diego on wednesday.  sounds like an awesome weekend in the making, no?

  1. I'm having major anxiety about it not just being us and Delia in a short 20 weeks, so I totally feel you there. I look forward to reading that post. You look great! At 20 weeks, Stroller Strides is getting a lot more tough for me...mainly the running part. I get so winded so easily!

  3. It's funny cuz in some months you look like you're carrying really similar but then in others it seems just a little different. Happy 23 weeks!

  4. Hope you have fun in San Diego! I'd love to see a post about some fun stuff to do with a toddler there. We're headed out there over the summer... never been! On a side note: Have you ever seen a mango that's 11 inches long? Sometimes all those size comparisons make me giggle a bit. :)

  9. Aww...I bet a lot of us can relate to how you're feeling about the one on one time with Parker - even if kid #2 is still in the distant future...it's just one of those things you think about. He'll always have a super special place in your heart just because of that good QT that you got with him. :) Now on to being showered by teeny tiny baby smiles again and a whole new amazing chapter! :)

  14. You look fabulous at 23 weeks! Jeez girl, you don't look that far along. It's great you're able to exercise too. It's funny, the only thing that I contemplate when thinking of having a second child is giving up the one-on-one time with my Alivia. She would no longer have 100% of my attention either; that's just hard to imagine. How would I split my time evenly between the two? You figure it out though (that's what I hear). I hear it's easier than you think - so no worries! I'm sure it'll all come to you when the new baby arrives!

  17. They did a local TV special on best beaches and San Diego was right after the Hawaiian beaches! I bet you already knew that... I'm glad you are going to have a fun get-away with your guys! Also good that your Dr. is watching the thyroid. Sounds like you are doing great! :D
