my happy place.

my happy times at safeco field go way back.  and mariner's games have always had a pretty important place in me & sam's relationship.  one of our first dates was a road trip from pullman to seattle for a mariner's game {ten hours of driving round trip}.  i met sam's dad for the first time at a mariner's game.  there were a couple times as newlywed college students where we'd wake up, look at each other & say, "screw class. let's drive to seattle & hit up an m's game."  and then we would... again, ten hours of driving round trip.

so it's safe to say we're fans of the place.

last year as an infant, we took parker to three or four games where he'd sleep in the baby bjorn or moby wrap & seem undisturbed by the crowds & noise.  i figured it was probably because he'd gone to three or four games a few months earlier while still in my belly.  we started him young.

saturday night we took him to what i kinda think of as his first real game.  he actually knew he was somewhere weird & we weren't sure how he'd react.  the noise, the crowds, the smells, all the walking... it was all unknown.

guess what?  he loved it.  he made it through all nine innings.  that's muh boy.

my niece was with us too.  it was her first major-league-baseball-game experience & i think she mostly just liked the baseball players.

and please ignore the blurry foreground with the in-focus background.  i photo-shopped it best i could, but this is what "hey stranger, will you take my family's picture?" gets you when you have a dslr.  one small drawback of the big-girl camera.

parker even loved the loud crowd.  when we got a hit & it got super loud he would clap & throw his hands up in the air.

the guys took the game very seriously.

me & bekah?  not so much.  because i've learned as a die-hard mariner's fan, you gotta find other ways to have fun while at a game.  because i don't know if you know this... but the mariner's kinda suck.

{well, we're actually doing kinda alright this year... but historically?  we kinda suck.}

it was a pretty much perfect night to be at a baseball game & i didn't want to stop taking pictures.  so i didn't.  i think i took somewhere around 200?  the lighting in there is dreamy.

until next time safeco.  and yup... there will be a next time.  very, very soon.

oh yeah, & happy independence day america!  hope you enjoy all those fireworks we're gonna light off & all that bbq we're gonna eat for you today.  i know i sure will.

also?  i enjoy a couple clicks from you.  i really, really do.

  10. Oh my goodness - such cuteness!! Looks like lots of fun. Can't wait until we take Will to a Nationals game. We still haven't ventured there because we haven't figured out how to do the baby and stroller on the DC Metro - driving and parking is not an option. This post makes me want to try it!!

  11. Awesome awesome pics =) I love pictures at baseball stadiums, the color is always so bright. Matt can't wait to take Christian to a baseball game. I only like going when it doesn't feel like the pits of hell - it's freakin' 105 here lately. I'm basically trying to move as little as possible, lol. If you're talking to me, don't be offended if I choose not to turn to look directly at you...I'm not trying to break out into a sweat. Woah, sorry for the heat rant. LOL
