what's the best part about a twenty minute commute two times a day, one day a week?

the twenty minutes of guilt-free music blasting at totally unacceptable baby-ear volumes.  love that.

i initially pouted about having to go back to work, even just one day a week.  but it's working out great.  i'm really enjoying the one day out of the house, using parts of my brain different from those required to change a diaper or sing the abc's.

don't get me wrong, i love my mommy job the rest of the week, but for now i'm really enjoying the excuse to wear heels on a weekday.

today it was a coldplay, keane, & the xx sing-a-long in the car.  i think those moments to decompress & be alone make me a better mom when i am home with parker.

am i alone in this?  how do the rest of ya'll decompress & regroup?

  1. i dont work but there are some times when i get away whether its to the grocery store or wherever and i absolutely LOVE singing as loud as can be in the car when im baby-less!
that picture of you is sooo cute and i love the little edits you did to your blog!

  2. Every night before I work I pout... then I'm SO happy when I'm there. Adult time. It's only about 5 hours every couple of weeks.

  3. lol, I LOVE blasting music in the car on the very rare occasion I get to be in it child free. I love my kids, but it is so nice to be able to do non mummy stuff.

Your bubba is gorgeous too! :)

    I'm a new follower.

  4. I sing in the car, too, and just getting out of the house helps! I love the photos on your blog - they are great!

  5. I love singing in the car too:)
I'm following you from FF.Hope to see you at my place.
    Beautiful pic!

  6. So, I am just the opposite. When I'm in the car alone, I turn off the radio and just enjoy the silence. Silence is hard to come by in my house, so I enjoy it when I can.

My favorite way to decompress is to go to my friend's house. The kids have a great time playing together and we just sit and visit.

  7. Totally agree, nothing like signing to your own tune as loud as you want with no one to hear.

  11. Hi! I’m a new follower from Boost My Blog Friday! I love listening to music to decompress especially at a deafening volume. I actually was singing my heart out once and didn't realize how fast I was going and got pulled over. I didn't want to tell the cop I was singing to "Buffalo Stance" by Ninah Cherry :)

  12. I feel the same way!
Found you at the blog hop, and am so glad I did. :)-McCall

  13. You look hot in that picture:) I miss you Ames!

  14. It sounds like you have the best of both worlds - being home with your babe AND getting to have a day out to work and be "out there". :) I found your blog from Mandy (a sorta fairytale) and thought I'd come say hello... er, G'Day being that I live in Australia and as I can see from your other post... I'm sure to win you over by saying that. ;)

  15. Your totally not alone, I love the two days I get to go to work. Just makes me feel a little more accomplished and I still get to be full time mommy. Who said we caint have it all? lol
