flashback friday: "sam's three wishes"

this comes to us circa 1986 from a 6 or 7 year old sam... as a first grader, i believe.

i've written the transcribed & corrected text below, for those of you who may not be able to decipher first grader.

"If I had 3 wishes it would be the [first] one would be a dinosaur just for me.  A pot of gold too.  Mrs. Fossand would get [arrested]."
{click image to enlarge}

if i had to pick my favorite thing here, it might be that his teacher politely corrected his spelling of "arrested" & added a little "oh no" exclamation to feign worry.  it also might be that his dinosaur has antlers.  or the obvious one is that my husband, as a first grader, only wanted his very own dinosaur & a pot of gold more than he wanted to see his teacher put in the slammer.

but what i think my favorite thing really is, is that it gives me a little glimpse into my future, & of just how mischievous little boys can be.

and if parker's anything like his daddy, i've got my work cut out for me.  oy vey.

ps: it should be known that the reason sam wasn't particularly fond of this teacher is that she had spanked him once in class, to which he replied, "you can't do that! you're gonna get arrested."

i'm sure he deserved it.

    p.s. I agree with 7 year old Sam - teachers who spank in class should get arrested.

  17. I love this post! Just wait until Parker starts talking...oh, the things he will say! Mason's most recent incident was when he proudly told the cashier at Safeway,"My grandma poops on the toilet!"...and yesterday he told me my arms are "hairy like a bear." Get a "Things Parker Says" journal ready!

  19. I am laughing here, too. I have to admit I like Mrs. Fossand's completely pink outfit right down to the pink shoes.

    I have so many bins of stuff like Sam's paper. The stuff my kids wrote when they first start reading and writing are hilarious!
